Douglas' son, also named Hugh Douglas, was studying business administration at Morehouse College and was set to graduate in the class of 2025.

Both Douglas and his roommate, Christion Files Jr., were in a vehicle heading south on a roadway at a high rate of speed when they passed another vehicle at a curve, according to Morehouse officials and Georgia State Police.

"The vehicle left the roadway and struck a power pole, rotated, struck another power pole, and overturned," GSP said. "The two occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased on scene."

Morehouse College remembered Douglas as an "exceptional student who displayed immense dedication and promise in pursuing a business administration degree with a concentration in finance."

WIP SportsRadio, where the elder Douglas is a host, mourned his son in a Tweet.

He was a member of the Morehouse Business Association, an AltFinance Fellow, and a Goldman Sachs Fellow. Over the summer, he interned at Ares Management Corporation in Los Angeles, the school said.

Douglas has been sharing photos of his son all day Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The elder Hughs was the former Rookie of the Year and drafted in the first round out of Central State (Ohio) by the New York Jets. He was later traded to the Eagles, where he starred on the line for five years before heading to Jacksonville and finishing out his career in Philly.

During his six years in Philadelphia, Douglas started 64 games and notched 54 sacks while serving as a stalwart on the defensive line. He made two Pro Bowls and earned all-Pro consideration twice with the Eagles.

To this day, Douglas' stellar sack rate still has him fourth on the Eagles' all-time list, behind Reggie White (may have heard of him), Trent Cole, and Clyde Simmons.

Following his time on the gridiron, Douglas stayed close to the game, serving as an analyst and sports reporter both locally in Philadelphia and temporarily on ESPN, where he was featured on multiple programs.
